Rumi: Poet of the Heart

The documentary, “Rumi: Poet of the Heart” explores the life and work of the great thirteenth-entury Afghan Sufi (Muslim mystic) poet, Jalaluddin Rumi (1207-1270), the founder of the Mevlevi Sufi order, commonly referred to as the Whirling Dervishes. Director Haydn Reiss and several members of the film's cast were in attendance.
This film was played to the Berkeley Audience at Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School prior to a Valentines Day 1998 performance by Robert Bly. Introduction by Jane Hirshfield.
